Summary of Duties
The Commercial Plumber is responsible for assisting with the inspection, installation, scheduling, calibrating, testing and repairs & maintenance of all plumbing systems including natural gas, portable or fixed gas tanks and fuel oil systems, fire protection systems, sewage systems, drains/gutters, piping, grease traps, bathroom toilet fixtures and pumping equipment for the interior and exterior of the job. The position requires supervising plumbing staff, and plumbing projects to include procurement of equipment, supplies and materials. The Lead Plumber provides technical assistance to the job’s functional spaces, shops, and departments. Coordinates facilities management efforts and responds to plumbing, potable hot and cold-water, demand and sustainable water conservation needs.

Preferred Qualifications
Licensed with knowledge of local plumbing codes and ability to make on-the-job applications.

Position Overview

The Apprentice will shadow a Journeyman or licensed professional for a duration of two years before becoming eligible to take the journeyman exam. In this role, the Apprentice will assist the Journeyman with the installation and repair of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and/or Utilities in Residential or Commercial settings. Apprentices are also strongly encouraged to enroll in the Apprenticeship Program at Skilled Trades of West Alabama.

Experience and Education Requirements

• Two (2) years’ previous experience in Traffic Control and be a certified TCS is preferred.

General Summary

General Summary

Operate a dozer to excavate, perform rough grading, load materials and clean up in a variety of heavy construction operations. Work cooperatively with the crew to accomplish tasks Maintain tools and equipment so that they are kept in good working order and are safe for use; Participate in training and other forms of development to strengthen technical, safety and other skills. Operate other construction equipment as required. Consistently monitor and maintain compliance with all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Maintain a clean and safe work environment to include equipment operated. Perform a variety of general labor tasks as required for the job. Train and mentor other employees on operating equipment, safety requirements and other construction processes. Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge in the proper use of dozers and related materials and supplies used in heavy construction work. Thorough knowledge of applicable safety precautions. Ability to work under general supervision according to work schedule. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. Good communication skills to coordinate work flow with other crew members.
Required Education, Training and Experience: Must have at least 2 years previous experience operating a dozer (depending upon level of operator) High school diploma or equivalent (GED) strongly preferred. Valid appropriate state driver’s license (general operator license) required; OSHA 10 Certification is preferred.

Work Environment: Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint orthrow an object. Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. Noise level is generally loud.

Class C Operator - operator with 2-4 years dozer operation experience; may perform operations such as rough grading, basic clean up, etc.

Class B Operator - operator with 5-8 years dozer operation experience; may perform more complex operations such as sub-grading and rough-in in addition to rough grading, basic clean up, etc.

Class A Operator - operator with 8+ years dozer operation experience; may perform very complex operations such as blue top, work on slopes, finish product grading, rough-in & finish in addition to rough grading, basic clean up, etc. This level is typically viewed as a production operator and will be able to understand grades

Must have working Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting and general handyman capabilities.
General handyman capabilities include: pressure washing and power-tools.
Job duties will also include: Cleaning and maintaining dumpster room and exterior trash clean-up.

The Foreman’s primary purpose is to supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of all mine operations personnel.



- Provide leadership to all mining activities, ensuring work is being completed in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
- Control all allocated labor to ensure maximum availability of resources by managing absenteeism and taking corrective action where applicable.
- Coordinate resources to maintain and enhance critical equipment performance and availability through best business practices.
- Supervise, train, and develop assigned team members as required.
- Establish good working relationships with other departments.


Production, Efficiency and Cost Control

- Coordinate equipment usage to ensure efficient and effective achievement of operational objectives.
- Analyze equipment rates and make changes to daily operational plans as necessary, based on mining conditions.
- Ensure achievement of production targets by maintaining operational objectives.
- Ensures all administrative data for the operations is generated accurately and in a timely manner; including all equipment and personnel time sheets and log books as well as daily diaries and production reports as required.
- Ensure that all records on equipment utilization (i.e. hours, pre-start checklists and utilized hours, are recorded on a daily basis.)
- Report performance breakdowns, equipment damage, safety near misses, incidents and accidents according to established procedures.
- Implement daily, weekly and monthly operational plans and objectives, in accordance with production plan requirements.
- Assesses employee performance against objectives on a regular basis as per Company policy and take corrective action where required.
- Implement and maintain operating procedures to ensure safe and effective operation of the mine.
- Implement actions to optimize mining process performance and attain efficiency targets in the areas of: labor productivity, equipment availability, utilization, and material consumption.
- Participate actively with the technical services group to support the development of optimum mining short and long-term plans.
- Develop and implement area work ownership with resources to maintain appropriate balance of workload with priority to equipment availability.
- Investigate accidents and near misses with a view toward positive action, emphasis on prevention through training, equipment set-up or equipment repair and report on findings and conclusions.
- Identify haul roads and dumpsites that need repair and ensure deviations are rectified.
Environment and Safety

- Improve on safety standards by holding safety meetings, conducting safety interactions and taking corrective action where required.
- Ensure adherence to State, Federal and Company workplace policies and standard work procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control;
- Maintain a high level of Safety performance through effective communication, monitoring and revision of standard work procedures.
- Identify and report safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace.
- Attend and participate on all scheduled safety meetings and training.
